Renewable Heat Incentive - Design Options and Implementation Consultation

Under the 2009 Renewable Energy Directive, Ireland is committed to ensure that by 2020, 12% of our heating demand will come from renewable energy sources. Cleaner heat is part of Ireland's renewable energy policy objective and the introduction of a Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) for Ireland is a commitment in White Paper on Energy and the Programme for Government. This will be the primary support mechanism in the heating sector designed to meet Ireland's renewable energy obligations.

A public consuation which closed on 3 March 2017, invited submissions from interested parties on the design options and implementation of a Renewable Heat Incentive in Ireland.

Responses to this consultation were subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2014 and Access to Information on the Environment Regulations 2007-2014. Confidential or commercially sensitive information should have been clearly identified in your submission, however parties should also note that any or all responses to the consultation were subject in their entirety to the provisions of the FOI Acts and may be published on the website of the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment.
